NSF tests at residential strength waste or wastewater only. These parameters are Five Day Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) of 300 mg/l: Total suspended solids (TSS) of 150 mg/l; Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) of 150 mg/l; and oil and Grease of 25 mg/l
Commercial Strength waste should not be treated the same at same flow rates ever. Below we will show examples of past studies at strength of waste.
One 1500 gal/day Residential ATU typically on treats 3.7 lbs per day and max. So for example take a restaurant at 500 gal/day at 1200 BOD it will take 5 -500 gal/day units or 2-1500 gal/day units. At 5000 gal/day it will take 14 -1500 gal/day aerobic units or you can use Ecopod using 4 units or less instead.
Moving to commercial units is the way to go instead of using residential units. Your cost of maintenance goes down tremendously and better treatment overall.
Buy a system that will work for you and not one that may be just alright and just deal with that odor. Call us to get your system corrected or for your new build contact us to get you the right system. We will always try to design on the higher end of your anticipated BOD range.

Office and warehouse setting can be higher range due to lack of gray water (laundry for example)
low usage but potentially just over residential strength
Typically more graywater but depending on usage or breakroom setup
